New york day 3
So today I went to the opening of ‘the Hundreds’ new store in new York, with only 2 other stores, both of which on the west coast, I decided to head down early. I was quite near the front, but still waited around 2 hours to get in. The store was sweet and I picked up some new clothes. After that I headed back to my hostel to drop my stuff off and head out for a falafel wrap with loads of hummus and salad. I then met jess and Sophie, 2 girls from my village who are staying in the crowne plaza on time square, with amazing views. We went out for a burger, then wen I got back to the hostel I realised my good friend rob was in town doing a photo shoot for the autumn urban outfitters catalogue, so I went and met him at his hotel just under the empire state building and we went for a wonder and a few beers to catch up. Now I’m finally in bed after an awesome last day of my travels, tomorrow I fly back to England and back to reality, and I think I’m ready for it.
New york day 2
So today, I went to Brooklyn to hit up front street bmx shop, however I didn’t realise it wasn’t open till 12, so I headed to a sweet little deli that my mate rob told me about called ‘pies and thighs’ in Brooklyn. After I had my pulled pork, slaw and pickle sandwich I headed back into manhattan and went to the supreme shop which was reopening with the new fall line, However there was a massive queue of about 4 hours so I left it and had an other wander round. Now I’m doing as I did last night and chilling in a bar with a beer, then getting a massive slice for $1.
New York
Got here this morning after Sarah took me to the airport in Orlando. After a long wait to get my bag I headed to my hostel which is right in the centre of the best part of new York, walking distance from trendy bars and shops, so I headed out in the heat and hit some shops, Starbucks, and had an alcoholic energy drink on the way home. Just had a cold shower as it’s absolutely boiling outside. Then tomorrow I’m doing pretty much the same thing.
Disney
So today, me, my dad and cousin went to animal kingdom and MGM in Disney world. We did the safari in animal kingdom and saw giraffe and bison and lions and loads of other animals. Then we went on the everest roller-coaster and the river rapids and then went to MGM and went on all the movie based rides.
Flamengo vs athletico maneiro
We headed to the stadium that will probably be where the next world cup final is. We got a beer and headed to the 90,000 + capacity ground. There were only 13,300 people there that night, but the atmosphere was still amazing. With massive flags and chanting. The score was only 0-0, but it was still good to be there.
Christ redeemer
We headed up to see the christ redeemer today. After a tram ride up o the top of the mountain we had a wonder around and looked over all the different areas of rio de janeiro, took pictures and looked at the bloody big Jesus. Then we headed back down, got some snacks, and headed to the beach where we once again played like kids and went for a jog, tonight were going to watch a football game in the stadium that the world cup 2014 final will most definitely be played in.
Laura
In foz de iguazu we followed the guide books advice and headed to ‘Laura’s hostel’, little did we know, Laura was a crazy woman. She instantly took a shine to Ed after he said something in Portugease, so she thought he was fluent, and directed all questions to him. She told us around 4 times that her friend lived in scarborough and the direction in which Paraguay lay. She was enthusiastic to say the least, and force fed us water and hot chocolate. However she was very helpful and provided us with a lot of entertainment, not that she meant it.
Rio de janeiro beach
Being ginger I don’t really enjoy the beach, especially not in somewhere as hot as rio, so while Luke and Ed walked down the beach I tried my best to shade myself, and read my book. However, the draw of the sea soon attracted me, and eventually I found myself not been able to touch the bottom and far out to sea riding the waves. The view was amazing and we had far too much fun in the sea and sand than 3 mid-twenty year olds should have. Tomorrow we go to see Christ the redeemer (that bloody big Jesus on the hill).
